The first step in creating your Digital Estate Plan is inventorying your accounts (including usernames and passwords). Your digital inventory may include: social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.), blogs, websites, banking information including brokerage accounts, email, retail shopping accounts, photo sharing accounts, Paypal, utility bills, and any other digital based accounts you may have. Second, you should find a good place to keep this information. You may appoint a family member, entrust your attorney with the account details, have the information placed in escrow, or you may use a service such as SecureSafe or Legacy Locker. You should then name a digital executor. This person should execute your wishes upon your death (ie: deactivate your Facebook account, send prints of Flicker photos sent to family, etc.)
